Colnago C72 Riding

Not extreme.
Perfectly balanced.

The C Series has been at the heart of Colnago since 1989. Each model number reflects the years since Ernesto Colnago founded the company in 1954 — the C35 in 1989, the C40 in 1994, and now the C72 in 2026.

Where the Y1Rs is built to win races, the C72 is built for the rider who values craftsmanship as much as speed. The geometry is slightly more relaxed than the C68 — more stack, less reach — but retains the responsive, precise handling that defines the C Series DNA.

“A fast bike, but not extreme. One where every element is developed in harmony — structure, materials, geometry and ride feel working together as a cohesive whole.”

Questions about
the C72.

How much does the Colnago C72 cost?
The C72 frame kit (frame, fork, headset, CC.02 cockpit) starts from €6,780. Complete builds range from approximately €13,300 to €16,300 depending on specification. The La Scala limited edition is €22,000. Contact us for the best available pricing.
Can I pre-order the C72?
Yes. We are accepting pre-orders now. Expected delivery is approximately 60 days from order. A small deposit secures your frame — balance due before shipping. Contact us with your preferred colorway, size, and build specification.
Is the C72 really handbuilt in Italy?
Yes. Every C72 frame is assembled by hand in Colnago’s facility in Cambiago, Italy. The seven carbon pieces are bonded in dedicated jigs, then hand-finished. Production is limited to 3,000 frames per year.
What is the difference between C72 and the C68?
The C72 is 30g lighter (895g vs 925g), has new CC.02 cockpit (15g lighter, refined geometry), 35mm tire clearance (vs 28mm on C68), hidden downtube storage, BSA threaded bottom bracket, and a more relaxed endurance-leaning geometry. The lugged construction remains, refined and elevated.
What groupsets are compatible?
The C72 is compatible with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Ultegra Di2, SRAM RED AXS, Force AXS, and Campagnolo Super Record Wireless. Electronic and wireless groupsets only. BSA 68 bottom bracket.
How does the C72 compare to the Y1Rs and V5Rs?
The Y1Rs is Colnago’s pure aero race bike. The V5Rs is the lightweight all-rounder. The C72 is the prestige model — handbuilt, lugged construction, focused on ride quality and craftsmanship rather than outright speed. It’s the Colnago for riders who value the heritage and soul of Italian cycling as much as performance.
Do you ship to the USA?
Yes, we ship to all 50 US states via DHL Express. Prices are tax-free for US customers. Fully tracked and insured. Delivery in 3–5 business days once shipped.
