What changed from V1 to V2.

The original Melee was a race bike with versatility baked in — 35 mm clearance, a comfortable stack, mudguard mounts. The V2 is narrower in purpose and sharper for it. ENVE benchmarked it against the Trek Madone and Tarmac SL8 rather than against its own predecessor, and rebuilt nearly every component of the chassis around weight and drag.

Real-World Fast

Built for the speeds
you actually ride.

Developed at 32 and 48 km/h in the Mercedes-Petronas wind tunnel — not at lab speeds nobody races at.

Where the watts went.

ENVE’s first ground-up aero bike developed under its updated Real-World Fast protocol, tested at the Mercedes-Petronas wind tunnel in Silverstone with aerodynamicist Simon Smart. The 17-watt saving is chassis-only — the same wheels were used for both bikes.

11.4 W — frame, fork, seatpost

Reduced frontal area, a slimmer head tube made possible by smaller headset bearings, and a reprofiled seatpost do the bulk of the work.

3 W — handlebar and tape

The new SES Aero Road Bar with an airfoil drop shape, plus 1.2 mm Aero Race Tape wrapped three-quarter length to keep material out of the wind.

2.6 W — bottle cages

SES Aero Bottle Cages with different shapes for downtube and seat tube, working with standard round bottles. They fit the original Melee and other bikes too.

Specialized Tarmac SL8511.30 W
Trek Madone (standard bottles)517.90 W
ENVE Melee V1524.71 W

Figures are ENVE’s own internal wind tunnel testing. The comparison is against the Specialized Tarmac SL8, not the newer SL9, and against the Trek Madone Gen 8 in two bottle configurations. Independent testing may differ.

Sharper, not softer.

33 mm, on purpose

Clearance drops from 35 mm to 33 mm. ENVE cites 31 mm as the optimal measured width for road racing; the saving goes into weight and drag. For bigger rubber, the Fray and MOG exist.

Lower front end on big sizes

Sizes 56 to 60 lose 5 mm of stack, and the new bar drops a further 6 mm — 11 mm lower overall, so taller riders get an aggressive position without awkward spacer stacks.

Threaded BSA

Away from T47 inboard to a plain threaded BSA shell. Lighter, and far easier to live with and service than press-fit over a frame’s life.

UDH compatibility

Universal Derailleur Hanger, so replacement hangers are available anywhere in the world and the frame is ready for direct-mount drivetrains.

Stiffer under load

ENVE measured lower frame deflection than the V1 in its stiffness test — the V2 gets lighter and more aero without losing the snap the original was known for.

Still fit-first

Seven sizes, five fork rakes, à la carte bar width, stem length and seatpost setback. ENVE’s Best Fit Calculator is the right starting point before you order.

ENVE Melee V2 studio profile

Every gram, every watt.

791 grams in size 56, a chassis of 1,442 g complete, and 7.5% less frontal area than the bike it replaces. ENVE stripped the Melee back to a pure race machine — threaded BSA, UDH, smaller headset bearings, a lighter seatpost — without losing the ride quality the original was known for.

Frameset or complete bike.

Take the chassis and build it your way, or let us deliver it complete and ready to ride. ENVE’s Spec’d for Speed programme offers four factory build levels — Pro RED, Premium RED, Premium Force and Foundation Force — or we can spec something entirely your own.

Common questions.

What has changed on the ENVE Melee V2?
Almost every detail. The frame drops to 791 g in size 56, total frame surface area falls 7.5%, and ENVE claims the complete chassis is 17 watts faster than the original Melee. The bottom bracket moves from T47 to threaded BSA, the frame gains a UDH hanger, the headset uses smaller bearings, and there is a new lighter seatpost. Tyre clearance is reduced from 35 mm to 33 mm.
How much does the Melee V2 frame weigh?
791 g for a size 56 frame in ENVE’s UL Black finish — an ultralight clear coat over raw carbon that itself weighs only about 31 g. The full chassis, meaning frame, fork, headset, seatpost, thru-axles and derailleur hanger, is 1,442 g.
Why did ENVE reduce tyre clearance to 33 mm?
Deliberately. Cutting clearance from 35 mm to 33 mm saved weight and drag while keeping enough volume for modern road racing — ENVE cites 31 mm as the optimal measured width. The V1 blurred the line between race bike and rough-road machine; the V2 is a focused race bike. If you want big tyres, ENVE points you to the Fray or MOG.
Is the Melee V2 actually faster?
ENVE’s wind tunnel data says yes: 17 watts over the original Melee, broken down as 11.4 W from frame, fork and seatpost, 3 W from the new bar and tape, and 2.6 W from the aero bottle cages. Testing was at the Mercedes-Petronas tunnel in Silverstone with aerodynamicist Simon Smart. Note these are ENVE’s own figures against a Tarmac SL8 and Trek Madone, not against the newest Specialized SL9.
Can the Melee V2 hit the UCI weight limit?
Yes. ENVE reached the 6.8 kg UCI minimum with a SRAM RED build on SES 4.5 Pro wheels. Tell us your target weight and budget and we will spec a build around it.
What sizes and fit options are available?
Seven sizes from 47 to 60 cm with five fork rakes, so handling stays consistent across the range. On sizes 56 to 60 the stack is 5 mm lower than V1, and the new bar drops a further 6 mm — 11 mm lower at the front for taller riders who want an aggressive position. ENVE’s Best Fit Calculator is worth completing before ordering.
Is it a threaded bottom bracket?
Yes — the V2 moves to a threaded BSA shell, replacing the T47 inboard standard of the V1. Easier to service and quieter over the long term than press-fit systems.
Frameset or complete build — which should I choose?
The frameset suits riders who already have wheels and a groupset or want to specify everything themselves. A complete build is usually better value once cockpit, wheels and groupset are counted together, and ENVE’s Spec’d for Speed builds (Pro RED, Premium RED, Premium Force, Foundation Force) are a good starting point. Ask us for a side-by-side comparison.
Do you ship the ENVE Melee V2 worldwide?
Yes. Worldwide DHL delivery, fully insured and tracked. Customers outside the EU buy tax-free, which removes 21% VAT.
